The good news is that along with potentially fixing the UPS not recognized problem, you will get the torrent downloader. The latest firmware would be 2.9 or higher. You hit ‘update’ and your device tells you that you have the latest firmware! You don’t. Iomega Link to all the files and info for the Storcenter ix2 Not with the fan though – you’re clever, you’ll come up with something. Even after you use a crazy Google search like this… Every time you try to search for Iomega Storcenter ix2 (or maybe storecenter?) you get a thousand ‘re-view’s’ of how awesome it is and nothing about helping you solve issues or fix problems. So – Are you having a problem where your Storcenter ix2 won’t recognize your Uninterruptible Power Supply?įinal Problem #3. Fresh USB cable plugged in and – nothing. I finally obtained a Tripp Lite UPS and replaced the battery on it. Enable write caching and don’t worry when the power goes out when your in Tahiti. Having a ‘self aware’ storage device is pretty cool.
I have been looking for a USB aware UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) for this device from day one. *cough **For reasons of ‘search’ the next model up is the ‘eye ex two hundred’ Let the sexy laptops and iPods take the credit while the hacked Linux device with wires and fans all over it gets the job done. It’s goofy looking utilitarian hardware that needs to be in the closet.

It’s a 80mm PC fan bolted to the back of a $200 NAS drive. It’s already back in the closet, so I’m not getting a picture of it… Hell, you don’t want to see a picture of it. I put an over-sized ultra quiet fan with a dust filter on it. You can see that Iomega took a complete 180 when they came out with “ the new model“** What I suggest is you get out your Dremel and cut a nice hole in the back panel. Along with the fan the airflow through the device is just as bad. The fan is horrible and you probably have already done something about it. Then I found out that they were discontinuing the model because of some pretty obvious problems. I picked up this little guy a little more then a year ago for some cheap money. I’m talking about the (EMC) Iomega Storecenter ix2.
#IOMEGA STORCENTER IX2 200 DRIVER HOW TO#
Cold and wandering through the internets looking for something about how to mod and update this device. i imagine IF my virtual machine iscsi lun was used i would have had to use something like vcenter to migrate the VM inside it to another datastore then trashed the file so that would have been a few extra steps but nonetheless still doable.I’m posting this basically because I know others are out there on your own. the last one (and the biggest) is the wii iscsi lun which is a mirror of my wii usb game drives which is formatted as WBFS, so if it came to be, i can create a new 500gb iscsi lun, then mount the existing one in windows, use something like wii usb manager to clone it to the other one in my current computer and then drop the 2tb drive from nas, create a new mirror then just move it back again.īottom line is if there is will. the 2nd isci is still alive on the other drive so i can mount it (its a ntfs with bitlocker mount) copy the files then discard that. i know 1 of the iSCSI luns isnt used so i can discard that. Seeing as how this make take a while i started thinking of plan B. I am currently trying this approach and will post what happens after my iscsi stores copy which may be a while copy 3 iscsi files back (change permissionsif needed).if step 7 is successful, power off NAS again.power on to see if it boots with just new drive.copy the iSCSi stores to my local computer.ssh into the device using its diagnostics page to get port number etc,.Wait a minute i thought, all the space i have is in 3 separate iSCSI luns. So i guess i need a drive of the same size. Immediately it complained that the drive is too small to use Powered on device, sad drive, went to rebuild, authorized the drive to be used and wiped (forgot i had data written to it) wait what will probably seem like eternity to rebuild.remove bad drive and replace with 1tb drive.Given the circumstances and of course me trying to be frugal, i looked at my hdd drawer and found two 1tb drives.Īt first i thought why downgrade, but after looking at the space i’m actually using after 3 years (575gb) i decided to go with spending 0 money and downgrade to two equal 1tb drives so im at a point where im still trying to recover from a successful Christmas and didnt want to spend money on this. So after 3 years of the NAS being turned on 100% of the time, one of the drives decided to quit on me. Well folks, its been 3 years since my ‘upgrading iOmega ix2-200 drives’ post and then this happened.
